Low background TPC-based α/β detection system

Published Time: 2025-03-13

Background

In the field of nuclear radiation monitoring, high-sensitivity detection of alpha and beta particles is crucial for environmental protection, nuclear facility safety, and radioactive research. Traditional detection methods, such as scintillation or semiconductor detectors, often face challenges like high background interference and limited particle discrimination capabilities, especially in low-activity samples or complex radiation fields. The Gas Time Projection Chamber (TPC), with its three-dimensional track reconstruction, high sensitivity, and low background characteristics, has emerged as the core of next-generation alpha/beta detection technologies. This system achieves trace radioactive signal detection capabilities and accuracy through precise particle trajectory capture combined with advanced signal processing algorithms.

The product utilizes the company's proprietary Micromegas detector as the TPC readout detector, enabling high-granularity three-dimensional track reconstruction. Coupled with excellent energy resolution, it achieves strong particle discrimination capabilities in the TPC system, thereby eliminating the need for bulky shielding structures required by traditional detection methods while simultaneously achieving lower background levels and higher sensitivity in radiation monitoring.
